recognizable everywhere, even abroad!

This time, after Dave Lemar of “The Voice of the
Philippines,” another Filipino has made it to the Hollywood round in the latest
season of American Idol. This internet sensation who is already active in
showcasing her talent even before joining the Idol audition by performing in
Filipino community events in the US and uploading her video song covers and
original composition in YouTube since 2007 was Erika David. Not to mention that
most of her videos gain a lot of hits and thousands of subscribers online.
She left an impression to the Idol judges,
Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Conick, Jr., by performing her own
version of Alicia Key’s hit song “No One” in San Francisco and because of her
attitude while singing, Jennifer Lopez was prompted to say that she was indeed
“sassy.”
Erika came from a family of singers. She said during her pre-audition interview that it is very important that when she’s in front of the judges, she just have to be confident and, most importantly, be herself. Indeed by doing this, the talented Filipina showed what she got and in the end, she brought home the “golden ticket” to Hollywood.
In the past seasons of American Idol, it can be remembered that Jasmine Trias (2004) and Jessica Sanchez (2012) also made it through the audition and performed during the live shows of American Idol.
