MMK Presents: The Tear-Jerker Story of a Gay Played by Edgar Allan Guzman

In our society, homosexuals are not openly accepted. In some cases, it is tolerated but to some extent only. We live in a conservative country wherein religious standard doesn’t conform with gays and lesbians. Most of the people will discriminate and judge members of the LGBT or Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender community because they believe that it is immoral or unnatural. That being said, we can just imagine the difficulties of being one.

Here in the Philippines, homosexuality is a very sensitive and controversial issue. Thus, coming out of the closet takes a lot of courage and confidence. One needs to consider a lot of things before openly proclaiming that he’s gay. What would my family think of me? What would other people say? What if they don’t accept me? These are the hanging questions that need to be answered.
Find out the answers this coming Saturday as you watch this tear-jerking episode of Maalala Mo Kaya in ABS-CBN. The episode was written by Ruel Montanez and Arah Jell Badayos. Award-winning actor Edgar Allan Guzman portrays the character of a boy who discovered his true identity and the problems that came along with it like coming out to his family.
What would you do if the family who’s supposed to accept you for who you are will neglect you for being gay? Now put yourself in the position of a father. What would you do if your son is gay? Would you disown him? Would you punish him? Or would you accept him?
This episode is a bitter reflection of how our society deals with homosexuals by discriminating and judging them. This inspiring episode will show us how badly misunderstood LBGT members are.
It will change the way you view gays or, as Gloc-9 said in his song, ‘Kung minsan mas lalake pa sa lalake ang bakla.’
This eye-opening episode will not only touch our hearts, it will also teach us a valuable lesson on how problems and dilemmas can make a family’s bond stronger than ever.
