WATCH: Cyberbullies and a Horror movie ‘Unfriended’ Teaches a Lesson You’ll Never Forget

Many of us are unmindful of our actions in the virtual world of Internet. The internet itself is made to connect and unite people, but most of us are guilty of using it as a tool to destroy the very reason why it was created.

Take cyber-bullying for example. At some point, we are all guilty of harassing, offending or insulting someone over the internet. We feel like we can do or say anything that we want and we wouldn’t get punished for it when in fact, we are responsible for the consequences of our own misdeeds. If you think you can escape, then this movie will prove you wrong.
The movie ‘Unfriended’ is to be released in theatres in United Kingdom on April. But I’m warning you, this movie is not your ordinary horror movie. It tells a story of a girl who suffered bullying over the internet when her drunken video was uploaded by an anonymous person. After enduring slut-shaming, she committed suicide.
Now here’s the exciting part. The girl is dead, yet the uploader of the video is still unknown. What do you think will happen if the girl’s ghost decided to come back and find out for herself? All hell breaks loose as a group of her high-school friends’ group chat turns into a nightmare they’ll never forget.
Aside from its’ gruesome concept, what made this movie different from others is the message it’s trying to convey to the audience. We should be mindful of our actions in the internet and we should always consider what we say to avoid conflict.
There is still no specific date on when the movie will be released in the Philippines, but this award-winning movie is just worth the wait. Check out the movie’s trailer here.
Once you’ve watched Unfriended, you’ll think twice about bullying somebody again.
