LOOK: Pranksters Dress as Cops in Diapers in the Papal Visit for Social Experiment

Days before the Papal visit, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority asked its almost 2000 police officers who were in charge of security to wear diapers. The reason behind this is to avoid going in and out of the comfort room, thus making them more efficient at securing their post.
On January 18 Sunday, a day before the Pope was departing, the issue came back to life as a netizen uploaded photos of officers wearing nappies.
Aside from Pope Francis himself, it seems that one of the things in the Papal visit that have caught people’s attention is the circulating photos of police and security personnel wearing diapers.
Here’s the catch: they are indeed wearing nappies, but without pants. They were caught on cam by a freelance journalist Tony Ahn as he was walking along Roxas Boulevard.

Ahn immediately uploaded the photos on his Facebook account with the caption “You probably wouldn’t believe this if I didn’t have photos. I laughed so hard at Diaper Patrol that I almost peed my pants! That wouldn’t slow them down though!”
However, later reports confirmed that the guys in the photo were not real police or security personnel. Ahn himself updated his status and clarified it with the caption "The person who organized this has stated that it was staged. Not real cops. Although it was shot along the Papal Route, near Banko Sentral, during the papal visit, these are not actual police officers. Thank God."
It turned out that it was just a social experiment conducted by Project Awesome Philippines, though the purpose of the stunt was not made clear. The viral photos garnered a lot of reactions from the netizens. Other people find it funny while others thought it was a bad publicity for the authorities.
But what do the real authorities think of this social experiment?

The photos triggered a response from PNP spokesman and Senior Supt. Wilben Mayor. In a text message, Mayor said that those were not their people.
“We do not do experiments like that, as I already stated before, policemen do not wear diapers. It is an unfair portrayal of policemen who worked hard under the sun and rain to ensure the safety of the Pope and the devotees who came to see his Holiness,” He said in an interview with ABS-CBN news.
He even added that the due to the success of Pope Francis’ visit, people should just focus on the positive side.
