“Meet Christine Balaguer, she can’t speak orally and can’t hear. She was an abused child with a mark on her right hand that was burned by a relative. She supported her own since she was 14. This silence made me realize that one should not always shout to be heard.”
One of the official candidates for Binibining Pilipinas 2015 is Christine Balaguer, who first joined Miss World Philippines 2014 last year and is actually a deaf-mute. But even though she has this kind of disability, it did not stop her from joining beauty contests.
She wasn’t able to win the title Miss World Philippines but she managed to include herself in the Top 13 semi-finalists and be one of the recipients of Miss Friendship special award.
This coming Saturday, January 17, we will all be able to watch the inspiring story of Christine through the portrayal of Venus Raj in ABS-CBN’s Maalaala Mo Kaya.
