WATCH: ABS-CBN’s Special Video Prayer Dedicated to the 44 killed SAF members

President Benigno Aquino declared January 30, Friday as the official National Mourning Day in the solemn commemoration of the death of 44 policemen who were involved in Mamasapano encounter with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) last January 26 in Maguindanao.

The whole nation expressed grieve towards the death of the PNP Special Action Force (SAF) troops who were killed in the battlefield while arresting two high-value criminals who are wanted for several bombing and killing.

Major news networks in the Philippines also showed their sympathy. GMA News Network changed their Facebook profile picture into black and white to express their grief while ABS-CBN dedicated a special video.

ABS-CBN’s video was uploaded in their YouTube channel. The one-minute video showed some of the clips of the heart-breaking commemoration of the policemen while uttering a prayer for the whole country. This video is an eye opener that calls for change and help in the crisis that the whole country is currently facing.

On the other hand, PNP SAF held its 24^th anniversary last January 29. The event should have been a feast if it wasn’t for the incident that killed their commandos. SAF chief Director Getulio Napeñas spearheaded the event with the presence of Secretary of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Mar Roxas. 

PNP Deputy Dir. Gen. Leonardo Espina and AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Gregorio Catapang are also present to honour the carnage of the elite police officers.

According to www.gov.ph “All public institutions and military installations are instructed to lower the Philippine flag to half-mast in honor of the members.” The heart-breaking scene was witnessed by Filipinos nationwide and even the netizens shared their condolences towards the family of the policemen by changing their profile picture black and white.
