WATCH: : Facebook and Smart Partners to Grant Free Internet Access for Filipinos

As Facebook collaborates with Philippines’ telecommunication network Smart, Filipinos will finally be granted free internet access to at least 24 sites related to health, education, communication and employment including Wikipedia, Philippine Daily Inquirer and Job Street.
On Thursday, March 19 one of the well-known Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg posted an update about the internet.org project on his official Facebook account. Zuckerberg posted a photo with the caption:
’’We're one step closer to connecting the world as we launched Internet.org in the Philippines today. Now everyone in the country can have free access to internet services for health, education, jobs and communication on the Smart network.
Here's a photo of Jaime, a driver in Manila who uses Facebook and the internet to stay in touch with loved ones who moved to Dubai.’’

Millions of Filipino subscribers are expected to benefit from this project because Smart is one of Philippine’s largest telecommunication network including Talk ‘N Text and Sun Cellular.
According to NewsBeat Social, Philippines is the seventh country to experience the internet.org project since its recent launch last 2014. Moreover, a representative from Facebook stated that the main purpose of this project is for people to ‘help create ideas and opportunities’ with free access to the internet.
