WATCH: Filipinos Featured in Miss Universe Pageant Trailer

Filipinos have made names in the world of beauty pageant. Our beauty queens are often remembered for their wits, stunning physiques and a personality that only a true Filipina can withheld. Aside from consistently contributing title holders every year, our people also pour much support on the pageant itself. We patronize pageants because we see them as an opportunity to showcase what it’s like to be a Filipino to the world. Indeed, beauty contests have become a part of our tradition and culture.

Aside from having our very own Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao as one of the judges, it’s no surprise when Philippines made a short appearance on this year’s Miss Universe pageant trailer. Traditionally, the video is supposed to give an overview and introduction to what the pageant is all about. It usually includes several clips reflecting the vision and mission of the prestigious event.
This year’s 63rd annual pageant features a few things about Philippines and Filipinos that will surely make all pageant junkies out there crazy. Our 2012 first runner up Janine Tugonon was shown on the video displaying her signature poses.
The gorgeous beauty queen from the North, Arielle Arida who bagged 3rd runner up of Miss Universe 2013 also made an appearance in the trailer.  Arida was remembered for her statement “It’s (Miss Universe) a calling. It’s a passion. It’s my dream.”
Victims from Typhoon Yolanda were also featured. Last year’s Miss Universe 2013 Gabriela Isler from Venezuela was seen in her visit in the Philippines in Tacloban. The beauty queen was featured helping out Filipino victims.
On the other hand, this year’s representative from Philippines Mary Jean Lastimosa expressed her gratitude to her Filipino fans that have been supporting her from the first day. In her interview posted by Miss Universe in Youtube, Lastimosa said that Filipino fans are the best.
“I cannot compare the Filipino fans to any other fans here. I claim it: they are the best fans that Miss Universe could ever have.” She added.
The coronation night will be held in Doral City, Florida at January 26 (Manila time). Let’s all watch and show support for our candidate.
